George "Bill" B. Morten

Laconia-----George “Bill” B. Morten, 76, of 249 Elm Street, died at his home on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

Mr. Morten was born July 10, 1933 in Ripley Derbyshire, England, the son of Joseph G. and Elsie (Heartshorne) Morten.

Mr. Morten served in the Royal Air Force where he played with the Royal Air Force Band. He then traveled around the world with his band, The Bill Barry Combo. Bill settled in Laconia in 1970 where he had been a resident ever since. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and friendliness while employed through the years at Grossman’s, Wicks and Wal-Mart.

Bill was a model railroad enthusiast and enjoyed videography.

Mr. Morten is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Sally (Sanborn) Morten, of Laconia; two sons, Richard Morten of Laconia and Arthur “Artie” Kirk and his wife, Amy, of Laconia; a daughter, Stephanie Kirk, of Laconia and four grandchildren, Jerra, Rhyan, Keirra and Lucas. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 3:00-5:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 1:00PM at the family lot in Lovell Lake Cemetery, Sanbornville, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N. H. 03247.
