Laconia-----Marion H. Olson, 85, of 21 Ledges Drive, Taylor Community, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, on Thursday, September 10, 2009.

Mrs. Olson was born December 13, 1923 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, the daughter of George G. and Ellen M. (Lund) Anderson. She lived in Rhode Island for sixty-two years and graduated from East Greenwich Academy. She later moved to Wolfeboro, N.H. where she lived for thirteen years before moving to the Taylor Community, Laconia twelve years ago.

Mrs. Olson was a member of the Melvin Village Community Church and a longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Greenwich, R.I. She was a member of the East Greenwich Scholarship Fund, the East Greenwich Branch of the Sunshine Society, the Girl Scouts, a volunteer at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro and a member of the New England Society of Open Salt Collectors. Her hobbies included needlework, reverse painting, tole painting, gardening and collecting open salt dishes.

Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Otto W. Olson, of Laconia; four sons, David P. Olson, Kenneth O. Olson , Donald A. Olson and Eric J. Olson; two daughters, Nancy J. MacGillivray and Lori B. Olson; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, George G. Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 1:00pm at the Melvin Village Community Church, 476 Gov. Wentworth Highway (Rte 109) Melvin Village, NH.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery, East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Taylor Home Community Sunshine Fund, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, N. H. 03246 or to the Lakes Region General Hospital, 80 Highland Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
