Gilford-----Thomas E. Marcoux, 60, of Gilford, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 5, 2009 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Tom was born March 27, 1949 in Laconia, the son of Leonce and Geneva (Rainville) Marcoux.

Tom lived most of his life in Laconia/Lakeport before moving to Gilford nine years ago. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a master plumber for over thirty years, was a member of the NH Plumbers Association and owned and operated Marcoux Plumbing & Heating.

Tom loved his family, watching his grandson’s sports, playing pool and woodworking. He was a hard worker and took pride in caring for his lawn, garden and yard.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Nancy J. (Otto) Marcoux, of Gilford; a son, Alan Marcoux, of Northfield; a daughter, Alix Marcoux, of Cambridge, Mass.; a grandson, Seth Marcoux, of Laconia; four sisters, Pauline Hietala and her husband, John, of Brighton, Minnesota; Jeannette Worcester and her husband, Thomas, of Merrimack, Beatrice Emond and her husband, Mike, of Laconia and Doris Federspiel and her husband, Ralph, of Gilford; six nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 2:00-4:00pm in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Memorial Gathering for all those who wish to celebrate Tom’s life will also be held on Friday at 5:00PM at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, N.H. 03756-0001.
