Roberta Reid Vezina

Gilford------Mrs. Roberta Reid Vezina, 75, of 15 Bacon Drive passed away at the St. Francis Home, Laconia on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 after a courageous battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.

Mrs. Vezina was born January 5, 1928 in Wakefield, MA, the daughter of Henry and Leta (Hall) Reid. She attended schools in Wakefield, MA and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1945. She was employed for many years at the Colonial Country Club in Lynnfield, MA and was also the Assistant Director of the Golden Rule Kindergarten at the Wakefield-Lynnfield Methodist Church before moving away from Wakefield in 1971. After moving from Florida to New Hampshire in 1977, she made curtains for a local drapery shop and then was a bookkeeper for the resident's accounts at the Laconia State School.

Mrs. Vezina enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, golfing, and organ music. She enjoyed children and teens and especially cherished times with her grandchildren. She volunteered time tutoring students in a local adult education program and was active in the St. James Nursery School Advisory Board and a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Laconia, NH.

Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Alphage Vezina of Gilford, NH; three children, John Sujko of Horseheads, NY, Paula S. Buckle of Belmont, NH and Carl Sujko of Wakefield, MA; nine grandchildren, Johanna S. Lincoln of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Danielle S. Johanson and Colleen Novotny, both of Elmira, NY; Sean Sujko of Horseheads, NY, Matthew Buckle and Amy Buckle both of Belmont, NH and Anna and Julia Sujko & Lee Johnson all of Wakefield, MA; one great-grandson, Zachary Lincoln of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nieces and nephews; and her first husband, Edward Sujko of Wakefield, MA. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Boudreau Dunn and Arlene Boudreau Smith.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10:00AM at St. James Episcopal Church, 876 No. Main Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, Rector of the church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Vezina's name to St. Francis Home, Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246; St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 876 No. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246 or to a charity of one's choice.
