Clara A. Jackson

Laconia-----Mrs. Clara A. (Robertson) Jackson, 88, of 406 Court Street, died at the St. Francis Home on Wednesday, September 25, 2002.

Mrs. Jackson was born November 19, 1913 in Saylesville, Rhode Island, the daughter of George and Claudia (Olney) Robertson. She lived in Greenfield, MA and Winchester, NH before moving to the Bishop Brady Apartments in Laconia, NH in 2000.

Mrs. Jackson was a registered nurse, graduating from the Rhode Island School of Nursing in 1950 and was licensed in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. She worked at the Beech Hill Alcoholic Hospital in Dublin, New Hampshire for three years and also worked at the Keene (NH) Hospital. She later worked at the Northfield Mount Hermon Infirmary in Northfield, MA for three years before retiring.

Mrs. Jackson loved music and had won a voice scholarship at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. She had been the featured soloist for many gatherings and weddings during her lifetime. Some of her hobbies, besides her music, was traveling which she loved to do. She and her husband had traveled in most of Europe and some in Asia and North Africa.

Mrs. Jackson was a former member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Saylesville, RI.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Dr. Clifford S. Jackson of Laconia, NH; a son, William S. Jackson of Newtown, PA; a daughter, Carrol Ann Roy, of Laconia, NH; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Hebner of Esmond, RI, Eleanor Nula of Smithfield, RI and Florence Barlow of Rehoboth, MA; two brothers, Robert Robertson of Lincoln, RI and William Robertson of Pawtucket, RI; and many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2002 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home, 530 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket, R.I. A Funeral Service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1000 Smithfield Avenue, Lincoln, RI on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 10:00AM. Burial will be in the family lot at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
