Dr. Willliam "Bill" J. Amaral, D.M.D., M.D

Concord, NH-----Dr. William "Bill" J. Amaral, D.M.D., M.D., 80, of the Harris Hill Center, 20 Maitland Street, Concord, NH and formerly of Boscawen, NH, died at the Concord Hospital, Concord, NH on Monday, September 23, 2002.

Dr. Amaral was born March 4, 1922, in Oak Bluffs, MA, the son of William and Mary (Estoque) Amaral. He was a Colonel in the U.S. Army, serving in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was in the military for over 25 years and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster to National Defense Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. While in the military, Dr. Amaral was a dentist and oral surgeon. After his military career, he continued his medical career and was a surgeon at the Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. In 1990, he moved from Texas to Concord, NH. His hobby was genealogy and he loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife, Dr. Barbara (Watson) Amaral of Concord, NH; three sons, Michael G. Amaral and his wife, Theresa, of Gilmanton, NH, Dr. Peter G. Amaral and his wife, Nancy, of Brenham, Texas and William W. Amaral and his wife, Paula, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; four grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Ann Gibson and Catherine Dietz both of Martha's Vineyard, MA and Mary Jane Bergeron of Marathon, FL; a brother, Nelson Amaral of Martha's Vineyard, MA and several nephews and nieces.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, September 30, 2002 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2002 at St. Joseph Church, Church Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, PO Box 6123, Lakeport, NH 03247or the charity of one&Mac226;s choice.
