William "Bubba" D. Cornish

Laconia—William “Bubba” D. Cornish, 48, of 4 Shepard Street, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH.

Bubba, as he liked to be called, was born July 15, 1960 in Fort Benning, Georgia, the son of Robert J. and Anna M. (Thonis) Cornish. He was raised in Kingston, N.H.

Bubba served in the U. S. Army from 1978-1982 and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. He lived in Alton for several years before moving to Laconia twenty-four years ago.

Bubba was well known and loved in the community. He was a longtime member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks, the American Legion, Wilkins-Smith Post #l and the Laconia Rod & Gun Club. He was a kind and very generous man who would do anything for his friends and family. He worked at Lewis and Saunders (now Smith Tubular) for twenty-five years and was a very valued and loved member of the Smith team.

Bubba loved to go deep sea fishing and golfing with his friends and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, never missing a game. Bubba loved eating lobster and hanging with his friends and watching football and baseball. He was very proud of and loved his only niece, Anna, tremendously, always assisting with her school fundraisers such as the purchase of band uniforms. His passing has left a shadow on many of our hearts, he was so well loved. He would want us all to remember the good times and live life to its fullest.

Survivors include a brother, Larry S. Cornish, of Nierstein, Germany; two sisters, Lisa A. Cornish of Laconia and Beth J. Cornish of Tampa, Florida; a niece, Anna M. Cochran, of Laconia and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Bubba was predeceased by a sister, Robin Cornish.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 26, from 4:00-6:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H. The Laconia Lodge of Elks will conduct a Session of Sorrow
at 5:00PM during calling hours at the funeral home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 1:00PM also at the Funeral Home. Ken Manning will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot at Union Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Laconia Sachems Band Boosters, PO Box 165, Laconia, NH 03247.
