Laconia-----Marion B. Cavanaugh, 97, of 30 County Drive, died at the Belknap

County Nursing Home on Saturday, October 4, 2008.  Mrs. Cavanaugh was the widow of  Michael E. Cavanaugh who died in 1970.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was born June 1, 1911 in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Andrew and Emma Louise (LeBlanc) Babin.  Mrs. Cavanaugh lived in Manchester, N.H. for most of her life before moving to Laconia in 2002.  Mrs. Cavanaugh was a graduate of  Hesser College and was employed at the J. F. McElwain Shoe Co. in Manchester and Nashua for many years.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, Manchester.

Mrs. Cavanaugh is survived by by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Clement, of Gilford; four grandchildren, Michael P. Gamlin of Gilford, Erin A. Shagena of Boscawen, Scott Alward of Laconia and Christopher Alward  of Florida; five great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Babin, of  Florida; a sister, Doris Grady, of Manchester and several nephews and nieces.  In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cavanaugh was predeceased by a daughter, Joan C. Alward, and by a great grandchild, Logan Christopher Alward.

A calling hour will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, N.H.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, following the calling hour at 11:00AM also at St. Pius X Church, by Rev. Robert Govski, pastor of the Church. 

Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald Street, Bedford, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belknap County Nursing Home, Activities Fund,  30 County Drive, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
