Doris E. Locke

Laconia. NH-----Doris E. (Heath) Locke of 175 Blueberry Lane and formerly of Elm Street, Lakeport, died at Genesis Eldercare – Laconia Center, four days shy of her ninety-second birthday, on November 2, 2009. Mrs. Locke was the widow of Samuel A. Locke who died in 1980.
Mrs. Locke was born November 6, 1917 in Stinson Lake, N.H., the daughter of Norris and Eunice (Washburn) Heath. She was a long time resident of Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School. She also graduated from the Margaret Pillsbury Nursing School in Concord and earned an advanced degree from Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing in New York. She was a registered nurse at Lakes Region General Hospital for twenty-five years, spending much of her time in the nursery, before retiring in November, 1979.
Mrs. Locke is survived by a daughter, Candie Louise (Locke) Roux, of Hudson; two sons, George “Rusty” Locke and his wife, Rosemary, of Meredith and Gary Scott Locke and his wife, Jan, of Merrimack. She has eleven grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Roux of Austin, Texas, Jason Roux of Tampa, Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Locke of Palm Bay, Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Locke of New Lebanon, New York, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Locke of Epping, N.H., David and Elizabeth (Locke) O’ Connell of Exeter, N.H., Mr. and Mrs. John Locke of Dover, N.H., Maggie Locke, Katie Locke, Peter Locke and Andrew Locke all of Meredith, N.H. and five great grandchildren. Also, a sister, Nena Heath, a sister-in-law, Alberta Heath, of Meredith and three nieces. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Locke was predeceased by a brother, John Heath, and by a sister, Evelyn LaPlante.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service.
A family celebration of Doris’s life is being planned for the spring.
