Barbara A. Henchey

Laconia-----Barbara A. Henchey, 85, of 406 Court Street died at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Monday, November 30, 2009. Mrs. Henchey was the widow of Harold “Hal” F. Henchey who died in 1995.

Mrs. Henchey was born April 23, 1924 in Keene, N.H., the daughter of John and Ethel (Hammond) Hayes.

Mrs. Henchey had been a resident of Laconia for the past forty-two years and was a member and volunteer at St. James Episcopal Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Lakeside Swingers Square Dance Club and her late husband was the caller. She was also a member of the Laconia Athletic & Swim Club.

Mrs. Henchey enjoyed reading, swimming, camping, cross country skiing, playing bingo and doing cross word puzzles. She also enjoyed her flower garden and bird watching.

Mrs. Henchey is survived by a daughter, Lynn Ann Dionne and her husband, Steven, of Laconia; two sons, John S. Henchey and his wife, Pam, of Sanbornton and Christopher Henchey of Loudon; thirteen grandchildren, Gretchen Dionne, Jilles Dionne, Steven Aiken, Christopher Aiken, Alison Henchey, Devin Cross, Benjamin Cross, Joshua Renzi, Tara Renzi, Caitlyn Henchey, Scott Henchey, Lauren Henchey and Daniel Nikels; ten great grandchildren and one niece. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Henchey was predeceased by her parents and by her brother and sister.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 2:00-4:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11:00AM also at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, N. H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Laconia Public Library, 695 Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246 or to the charity of one’s choice.
