Thelma R. Duffy

Maine----Thelma R. Duffy, 85, of 2 Victoria Court, York, died at Sentry Hill on Thursday, November 12, 2009. She was the widow of Roland J. Duffy who died in 1992.

Thelma was born November 2, 1924 in Sandwich, NH, the daughter of Carl and Helen (Denney) Bickford.  She resided in Middletown, Ct, Ocala, Florida, Kensington, and Stratham, NH for many years before moving to York, ME.
Thelma had been employed by the Duffy Enterprises-Resort Hotels as a Hotel Manager for ten years retiring in 1986.

Thelma had a sunshine personality that absolutely lit up any room. Thelma was a sweet and honest person who was always ready to lend a helping hand.  She enjoyed a good joke and loved to laugh. She touched the lives of all who knew her.

Survivors include two sons; Robert R. Duffy and his wife Judith, of Eliot, Maine and Steven W. Duffy and his wife Virginia of Enfield, NH; eight grandchildren; Tiffany, Troy, Taylor, Tate, Tyson, Ilene, Taylor, and Richard; six great grandchildren,  and a sister, Elizabeth Young of Belmont, N.H. In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by a son, Richard Duffy in 1973.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 6-8pm and on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 11:00AM - 1200PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will follow the calling hour at Noon on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
There will be a reception for friends and family to follow at Hector's in Laconia.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter in memory of GiGi Duffy, Thelma's beloved teacup poodle.
