Allen "Sam" R. Blake

Gilmanton-----Allen “Sam” R. Blake, 71, of 964 Middle Route, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Saturday, November 28, 2009.

Sam was born July 5, 1938 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the son of Leon S. and Alice G. (Hunt) Blake.
Sam was a lifetime resident of the Lakes Region and was a 1956 graduate of Belmont High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1956-1967 and was a self-employed contractor for many years.
Sam was a member of the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and NASCAR.

Sam is survived by his wife, Susan (Towle) Blake, of Gilmanton; three sons, Duncan and Kristen Blake, of Moultonboro, Dean Blake of Seattle, Washington, and Michael Blake and his wife, Kimberly, of Gilmanton; two daughters, Laurel Patten and her husband, Michael, of Gilmanton and Luanne Blake of Boscawen; nine grandchildren, Damien Patten, Cortney Patten, Celina Eddy, Aaron Brown, Hunter Blake all of Gilmanton, Rachel Blake and Lauren Blake, both of Moultonboro, Corey Blake of Tennessee and Gabrielle Pidgeon of Laconia and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by three brothers and by one sister.

There will be no calling hours.

A Celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 1:00-4:00PM at the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1, 849 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #l Child & Youth Fund, c/o Jim Dupont, PO Box 494, Laconia, N.H. 03247-0494.
