New Hampton-----Leander “Lee” “Jake” G. Belanger, also known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, 53, of 935 Rt. 132 North, died at Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth, on Sunday, November 23, 2008.

Lee was born September 16, 1955 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Raymond G. & Lula A. (Davis) Belanger. He was raised in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School. He had been a resident of New Hampton for the past five years, coming from Weirs Beach. He was employed at Millpower Source for the past eighteen years. He also owned and operated Belanger Carpet Cleaning for many years.

Lee enjoyed Harley rides.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Claire-Marie Belanger, of Tilton, N.H.; two grandchildren, Sophia-Marie Aurora Horne and Lexy Reed; a brother, Keith Belanger, of Bristol; two sisters, Gale Fontaine of Gilford and Orize Belanger of Newport News, Virginia; his girlfriend, Dee Glines, of New Hampton; his two best friends, John and Ken, and hundreds of others. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He is loved by many and will be missed by all. Lee was predeceased by his parents and his grandmother, Orize “Meme” Belanger.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:30AM.

Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Manchester, NH Office, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, N.H. 03101.
