Karl R. Bengtson

Laconia, NH-----Karl R. Bengtson, 77, died in Laconia on Sunday, November 10, 2002, with family members at his side.

Mr. Bengtson was born March 8, 1925 in Ansonia, CT, the son of Carl S. and Gerda (Newquist) Bengtson. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey.

Mr. Bengtson moved from Ansonia to Laconia in 1996. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lacerta. He later retired as Commander following twenty years in the Coast Guard. He was employed as Vice President of the Connecticut Bank & Trust in Danbury, CT.

Mr. Bengtson maintained a very active, life-long association with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Mason, a member of the Eagle Hose Hook and Ladder Company in Ansonia, and a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Jean (Baker) Bengtson, of Laconia; three sons, Karl R. Bengtson, Jr. of Laconia, Kurt R. Bengtson of Nashville, TN and Craig A. Bengtson of New York City; a brother, Herbert S. Bengtson of Bradenton, Florida; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt.

There will be no calling hours

A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church in support of Scouting c/o Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246
