Rev. Robert W. Withington

Laconia, NH-----Rev. Robert W. Withington, 81, of 22 Edgewater Avenue, died at the St. Francis Home, Laconia on Tuesday, November 19, 2002.

Rev. Withington was born March 31, 1921 in Adams Center, New York, the son of Dwight and Martha (Cooley) Withington. He served as a First Lt. in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 - 1946. He was a graduate of St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York and of the University of the South.

Rev. Withington lived in Canandaigua, New York where he was the Rector of the St. John&Mac226;s Episcopal Church for 17 years, retiring in 1986. He moved to Laconia, NH in 1992.

Rev. Withington was also the Rector of St. John's Church, Marathon, New York, Grace Church, Whitney Point, New York, the Gethsemane Church in Sherrill, New York, Trinity Church in Canastota, New York, St. Augustine's Church, Ilion, New York, and St. Paul's Church in Schenectady, New York.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Betty Jane (Heisley) Withington of Laconia; four daughters, Diana G. Mobley of Medfield, MA, Joan K.Wing of Boca Raton, Florida, Karen R. Mancuso of North Bellmore, New York, Mary Martha Withington of Saratoga, New York; three sons, John A. Withington of New Bern, North Carolina, Mark H. Wright of Gilford, NH and Paul H. Wright of Derry, NH; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Andrew, John, Peter, Nicholas and Gretchen Wright, Jacob and Nathaniel Mobley, Jessica MacKinney, Sarah Svendsen and Stephen and Cathy Mancuso; a brother, Dr. Lawrence Withington of Watertown, NY and a sister, Betty Gleason of Williamson, New York. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen (Dodge) Withington in 1966.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held at the St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, Rector of the Church, will officiate. Following the service, a time of Fellowship will be held in the Church Hall.

IN NEW HAMPSHIRE: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church Scholarship Fund, 876 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

IN NEW YORK: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, Main Street, Canandaigua, New York 14424
