Roland W. Swan

Moultonboro, NH-----Roland W. Swan, 89, of 47 Swan Point Road, died at the Genesis ElderCare Network-Laconia Center in Laconia on Saturday, November 2, 2002.

Mr. Swan was born October 31, 1913 in Malden, MA, the son of August William and Olga Frederica (Bjorndahl) Swan. He was a graduate of Malden High School in Malden, MA and of Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA where he graduated with a degree in structural engineering. He lived in Melrose, MA for several years before moving to Moultonboro in 1981. Mr. Swan was an ironworker for Local 7, Boston, MA for 42 years, retiring in 1975. He was very active in The Gideon's Scripture Distribution and also served as Councilman in The Royal Ranger Program.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Eleanor (Merritt) Swan, of Moultonboro; two sons, Norman R. Swan of Derry, NH and Gordon M. Swan of Moultonboro, NH; a daughter, Nancy Swan Dwyer, of Harvey, Louisiana; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Herbert Swan of Long Beach, CA; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a great grandchild, Anastasia D. Kelleher in 1994 and by his two sisters, Elsa Benyon and Ruth Swan Lund.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 8, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Center Harbor Christian Church, 88 Bean Road, Center Harbor, NH. Rev. Robert Farah, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Holland Hill Cemetery, Moultonboro, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Center Harbor Christian Church, PO Box 927, Center Harbor, NH 03226 or to Gideon's International Association of NH, c/o Herbert Otto, PO Box 474, Plymouth, NH 03264-0474.
