Steven Craig Harvey

Gilmanton, NH---Steven Craig Harvey of 14 Dock Rd, Gilmanton NH, died at home on Sunday, May 13, 2007 following a year long illness.

Steve was born in Fall River, MA on February 22, 1950 and grew up in Tiverton, RI. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, MA, class of 1967, and an honors graduate of Roger Williams University, Providence, RI, receiving his BS in Industrial Engineering in 1971. He and his wife, Gerri, moved to Gilmanton, NH in 1973 where they built a home and raised their family.

Steve was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gilford, N. H.

For the past 32 years, Steve has worked at Lakes Region General Hospital, where he served as the Director of Facilities. His talents and skills encompassed all of the building trades. Many family, friends and community organizations in the Lakes Region have homes and buildings bearing the work of his hands. He was a mentor to many in his career and a generous supporter of The United Way and American Red Cross. Simple in tastes and rich in spirit, he loved to read, take walks, spend time near the ocean, and share time with the family he loved.

Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Geraldine (Manchester) Harvey, of Gilmanton, NH; a son, Brandon T. Harvey, of Belmont, NH; a daughter, Kathryn E. Harvey, of Westfield, MA; his father, Thomas H. Harvey, of Alton, NH and a sister and brother-in-law, Pamela D. and James Bean of Fort Dietrich, Maryland.  He was predeceased by his mother, A. Louise Harvey, in 2005.

There will be no calling hours.

Steve’s body will be cremated and there will be a celebration of his life at the First United Methodist Church, 500 Gilford Avenue, Rte 11A, Gilford NH on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 2:00PM. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Employee Assistance Program at Lakes Region General Hospital, 80 Highland Ave, Laconia, NH, 03246 or to Community Health and Hospice, Inc., 780 N. Main St, Laconia, NH 03246.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
