Margaret Gard

Gilmanton——-Mrs. Margaret Gard, 87, of Province Road, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia, on Wednesday, May 15, 2002. She was the widow of John H. Gard, Jr. who died in 1999.

Mrs. Gard was born June 18, 1914 in Gilmanton, the daughter of John J. and Julia (Bruce) Munsey. She was a lifetime resident of Gilmanton and worked at the Cormier Hosiery for a number of years.

Mrs. Gard was a member of the Gilmanton Community Church of Gilmanton Corners and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Alpha Chapter of Alton and a member of the Gilmanton Woman’s Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna White of Gilmanton; 6 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Maurice E. Munsey of Gilmanton and two sisters, Arletta Gale of California and Glenna Healey of Gilmanton; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Bruce M. Gard in 1995 and John H. Gard, III in 1969.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2002 at 7:00 PM at the Gilmanton Community Church, Gilmanton Corners. Rev. Linda B. Bolton, Pastor of the Gilmanton Town Ministry, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gilmanton Community Church, Box 6, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
