Lawrence F. Poitras

Gilford——-Lawrence “Larry” F. Poitras, 49, of 139 Belknap Point Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Sunday, May 19, 2002.

Mr. Poitras was born January 22, 1953 in Sherbrooke, Canada the son of Francis and Bernadette (Demers) Poitras.

Mr. Poitras served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1972-1975. He lived in Connecticut for several years before moving to Gilford three years ago. He worked for Synergetics Installation Worldwide of Portsmouth for three years. At the time of his death, he was project manager.

Mr. Poitras was a former member of the American Legion Post #37 of Bellows Falls, Vermont. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed boating and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine “Casey” (Golec) Poitras of Gilford; two sons, Brian, who is serving with the U.S. Army in Germany and Jeffrey of Bellows Falls, Vermont; a brother, Roger Poitras of Newfane, Vermont; three nieces and five nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 11:00AM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. George Hankins-Hull, Spiritual Care Coordinator at the Lakes Region General Hospital, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4688, the Laconia Salvation Army, 177 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246, or to your own favorite charity.
