Dorothy Lord Fox

Meredith, N.H.----Dorothy Lord Fox, 96, died peacefully at Forestview Manor in Meredith, NH on Sunday, March 14, 2010.

After graduating from Waltham High School, Dorothy worked for several years as a secretary at Waltham City Hall. She married Dr. Lord in 1937 and helped him in many ways as he practiced general medicine from his home office in Bedford, Mass.

Dorothy was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, an active past president of the Bedford Woman’s Community Club and a member of Emerson Hospital Auxiliary. Her wonderful smile and natural optimism allowed her to remain a gracious and caring lady throughout each day of her 96 years. She will be greatly missed.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. C. Rogers Lord and C. Emerson Fox, both of Bedford, Mass. She was the "best mother in the world" to Joan Lord Birmingham and her husband, Eric, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Margie Lord King and her husband, Phil, of Moultonboro, N.H. and Judy Lord Johnston and her husband, Roy, of Exton, Penn. She was a loving grandmother, known as “Muzi Dot” to Bruce Birmingham, Amy Birmingham Foley and her husband, Neal, Diana Birmingham McKee and her husband, Blair, Scott Birmingham and his wife, Renee, Laurie King Johnson and her husband, Kevin, Bonnie King Colby and her husband, Steve, Peter Lord King and his wife, Jean, Carrie Johnston Skey and her husband, Joe, and Chad Johnston and his wife, Jodi. She was also "Muzi Dot" to 21 great grandchildren. She leaves a brother, Robert Wells Martin, of West Chester, Penn. and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer in Moultonboro, N.H.
