Robert "Bob" E. Corbin

Belmont-----Robert “Bob” E. Corbin, 74, of 83 Perkins Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Bob was born July 8, 1935 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Raymond and Rose (Dargy) Corbin.

Bob served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. In February, 1960 he started as a teller at the Laconia National Bank which later merged several times to become the now Citizens Bank. He quickly rose to assistant cashier, then cashier and in 1969, he became assistant Vice President. In 1978, Bob was promoted to Vice President of Operations where he served for over thirty years. After retiring from the bank, he was employed at the Department of Health & Human Services in Concord.
Bob was active in community affairs, serving as Belknap County Treasurer from 1989-2006. In 2001, he was named NHAC Treasurer of the Year. Bob also served as the Greater Laconia Chamber of Commerce Treasurer, Lakes Region United Way of Belmont Co-chairman and as an incorporator of the Laconia Community Development Corp. He also served on the Board of the Laconia Country Club.

Bob enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending leisure time at Paugus Bay and his annual trip to Aruba. It was there he became very ill and was forced to return home early this year.

Bob is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Constance “Connie” (Leith) Corbin, of Belmont; a son, Jerry Weeks, of Loudon; four grandchildren, Eric Weeks of Melbourne, Florida, Staci Schmidt of Groton, Conn. and Jacob Weeks and Sarah Weeks, both of Loudon; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Harriet Corbin, of Laconia; a brother-in-law, Pappy Laramie, of Belmont; a sister-in-law, Linda Laramie of Belmont, cousins, Marie Monier of Laconia, Anita Hussey of Connecticut, Richard and Roger Dargy of Laconia, Lucille Moody of Pennsylvania, Elaine Snyder, of Sanbornton, Lorraine Gordon of Portsmouth, Dick Chabot of Rhode Island; a niece, Michelle Lamont, of Gilford and a nephew, Michael Corbin, of Weare. In addition to his parents, Mr. Corbin was predeceased by a sister, Claire Corbin.

According to Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. or to one’s favorite charity.
