John E. Maltais, Sr.

Belmont-----John E. Maltais, Sr. 91, of 303 Durrell Mt. Road, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Mt. Ridge Center Genesis Eldercare, Franklin. Mrs. Maltais was the widower of Irene E. (LaPoint) Maltais.

Mr. Maltais was born November 6, 1911 in East Concord, NH, the son of John E. and Anna (Mahair) Maltais.

Mr. Maltais lived in Gilmanton, NH for 71 years and also lived in Tennesse for 20 years with his son, John Maltais, Jr. before moving to Belmont, NH. He was employed at Scott & Williams for over twenty years and retired in 1972.

Mr. Maltais was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed farming and hunting and he loved helping others.

Survivors include four daughters, Rita Miller, of Belmont, NH Jeannett Caron and Barbara Beaule, both of Tilton, NH and Joan Maltais of Tennessee; five sons, John Maltais, Jr. of Tennessee, Danny R. Maltais, Richard G. Merrill and Dick Maltais all of Gilmanton, NH and Fred Maltais of CT; 34 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter, Jamie Joel Knapp, of Connecticut; a brother, Joe Maltais of Laconia, NH and a sister, Molly Lanage of Rochester, NH; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Arthur Maltais who died in 1951 and George W. Maltais who died in 1943.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held in Clarksville, Tenn.
