Elaine S. Cheney

Laconia------Mrs. Elaine S. Cheney, 77, of 50 Blueberry Lane, Laconia died on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at The Hospice House in Concord, NH. She was the widow of Atty. Thomas P. Cheney who died in 1970.

Mrs. Cheney was born June 22, 1925 in Waltham, MA, the daughter of Ernest H. and Mildred (Johnston) Sinclair.

Mrs. Cheney lived in Laconia most of her life. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1943 and from Plymouth Teachers College, Plymouth, NH in 1947. She taught English at Stevens High School in Claremont, NH and also taught 8th Grade English and History at Laconia Junior High School.

Mrs. Cheney was a long time member of the St. James Episcopal Church. She was a social worker at the Belknap County Nursing Home for a number of years and was also a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cheney, of Concord, NH; a son-in-law, Richard J. Peller, of Gill, MA; two grandchildren, Anne Elizabeth Peller and Thomas Peller, both of Mount Hermon, MA and a sister, Pauline S. Baker, of Sturbridge, MA. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Peller, in 1997.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 1:00PM at St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia. Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, Rector of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be held later in the Spring in the family lot at Union Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
