Send a condolence note

GILFORD – JANET OSTRAND PLUMMER, 58, of 112 Cotton Hill Road, passed peacefully on June 19, 2008. She was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on September 8, 1949, the daughter of the late Barbara and Roy Ostrand.  She was the loving wife and best friend of 38 years to her adoring husband, Douglas V. Plummer and loving mother of her twin sons, David Carleton Plummer and Steven Douglas Plummer who, in her words, were her life’s greatest achievement.

Her family also includes, David’s lovely wife, Pam Plummer, two beautiful granddaughters, Charissa and Amber and her handsome grandson, Matthew. Her beloved sister, Kris O. Piche and husband Ron, her brother, William Tabor Ostrand and wife, Lynn, and their son Eric and daughters Julie & Amy; her brother-in-law, Gary Plummer and wife, Jan, and their daughter Ali; her sister-in-law, Jane Scroggs and her daughters, Ann-Marie Lucas and Doreen Scroggs Tolson. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Bing & Gladys Plummer.

Janet enjoyed growing up at Tabor’s Marina, Glendale, in sun-soaked days, boating or water skiing on Lake Winnipesaukee or dancing the night away at Teen Haven and Irwin Gardens, Weirs Beach. Winter months would find her schussing down the slopes at Gunstock. Her sweetness was acknowledged as Key Club Sweetheart at Laconia High School and her beauty on the Queen’s Court at her Junior Prom. Janet enjoyed traveling and wintering in St. Martin with Doug and their dog, Coco who loved fetching coconuts on their many walks along the beautiful beaches.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Janet would describe her as a real, caring, passionate, loyal, hard-working, and fun loving person. She was a consummate cook and gracious entertainer, who, above all, loved her family and friends more than anything. All who knew and loved Janet will dearly miss her infectious giggle, big heart and beautiful soul.

Janet’s life celebration will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 4:30PM at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford Village with Reverend Michael Graham presiding. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Janet’s memory to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N.H. 03247.
