John J. Schaefer

Gilford-----John J. Schaefer, 98, of 3 B Vincent Drive, died at the St. Francis Healthcare Center, Laconia on Monday, June 11, 2007.

Mr. Schaefer was born May 26, 1909 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Louis G. and M. (Griffin) Schaefer.

Mr. Schaefer served in the U. S. Army from 1923-1927 and then again served from 1930-1933. 

Mr. Schaefer was employed by the Millburn School System in New Jersey for twenty-seven years.

Mr. Schaefer had lived a number of years in Lincoln, New Hampshire, wintering in Edgewater, Florida and later lived in Gilford, New Hampshire for the past five years.     

Survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years, Lina (Arseneau) Schaefer, of Gilford, New Hampshire; three sons, “Bud” Schaefer of Australia, James Schaefer of Florida and Robert Schaefer of New Jersey; two stepsons, Laurent Landry and his wife, Kathy, of Colchester, Connecticut and Roger J. Landry and his wife, Pam, of Gilford; a stepdaughter, Lorraine Borelli and her husband, Vincent, J., of Cambridge, Massachusetts and a brother, Louis Schaefer; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.   In addition to his parents, Mr. Schaefer was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel May Schaefer, in 1975.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, New Hampshire. Rev. John Davies, Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor for Community Health & Hospice, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in Rohrsburg Cemetery, Rohrsburg, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, New Hampshire is in charge of the arrangements.
