Melicent "Melie" W. Vanderheiden

Sanbornton-----Mrs. Melicent “Melie” W. Vanderheiden, 77, of Hunkins Pond Road died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith. She was the widow of Stanley Vanderheiden who died in 1986.

Mrs. Vanderheiden was born July 29, 1928 in Meredith, NH, the daughter of Max and Irene (Garland) Weld. She graduated from Kennett High School (Conway). She lived in Lochmere for several years before moving to Sanbornton over thirty years ago. She worked for the U. S. Forestry Department in Laconia for eight years, retiring in 1991.

While living in Conway, Mrs. Vanderheiden was a member of the Congregational Church, a member of the Kenneth High School Alumni Association, and was a volunteer at the craft fairs, V.F.W. suppers and the Soldiers Home. For over twenty-five years, she was a member of the N. E. Sled Dog Club and the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club. Over the years, she held all of the offices of the Lakes Region Club and was an honorary life member. For forty-five years, she was a member and assumed all of the offices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Laconia Post #1670.

Survivors include two sons, Marc E. Vanderheiden of Belmont, NH and Anthony G. Vanderheiden of Sanbornton, NH; a daughter, Lorell E. Remington of Center Ossipee, NH; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Weld of Center Conway, NH and Harold Holt of York, ME; three sisters, Maxine Andrews of Fryeburg, ME, Ellanore Hill of Conway and Darla Higgins of Rochester, NH; and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 5:00 6:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00PM also at the Funeral Home.

A private burial will be in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship Fund c/o the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, POBox 7312 Gilford, NH 03247-7312.
