Laconia----Josephine H. (Wojtas) Nickerson, 89, of Lakeport, NH, died June 7, 2006 at the Forestview Manor in Meredith, NH.
Mrs. Nickerson was born August 19, 1916 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Gawlick) Wojtas. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School.
Jo and her husband, Ken, moved from Cambridge, MA to their New Hampton, NH farm early in their marriage. They moved to Lakeport in the mid-1960’s. Jo had a great appreciation and respect for nature and enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping with her husband and their many nieces and nephews. Jo was also a great baker.
Jo was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Francis Gendron, of Lowell, MA; a sister, Anita Woulfe, of Hyattsville, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Wojtas of Dracut, MA and Patricia Wojtas of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and several nieces and nephews, including Susan Wojtas who helped care for her.
In addition to her parents, Jo was predeceased by her husband of forty-one years, Kenneth Nickerson, in 1986 and by her brothers, Stanley, Anthony and Alexander. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend.
There will be no calling hours.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 2:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Lambert Cemetery, Province Street, Laconia, NH.
