Alexandria----Alecia F. Costin, 79, of 12 Knowles Hill Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, on Wednesday, June 28, 2006. She was the widow of Arthur F. Costin who died in 1998.

Mrs. Costin was born November 13, 1926 in Porter, Maine, the daughter of Curtis A. and Teresa L. (Ridlon) Fox. She was raised in Porter and graduated from Porter High School (Kezar Falls) in 1944 and then graduated from Burdett Business College, Boston, MA. She lived in Cambridge, MA for several years before moving to Alexandria in 1960.

Mrs. Costin was a medical secretary and trained as a lab technician at Peter Brent Brigham Hospital. Over the years, she was employed at Peter Brent Brigham Hospital and Massachusetts Memorial Hospital and was Director of Nursing. She also worked for Dr. George G. Bailey, Dr. John Flynn, Dr. Brian Johnson, Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth, NH and Dr. Alistair Craig.

Mrs. Costin was a member of the Methodist Church in Kezar Falls, Maine and a member of the Federated Church in Bristol, NH. She was a charter member of the Alexandria Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved cooking for family and friends, knitting, sewing and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle F. Costin-McCarthy of Laconia and Heidi Costin Lilley, of Gilford; four grandchildren, Kerry Lynn McCarthy of Laconia, Meghan Ann McCarthy Maurier of Virginia,Sarah Anne McCarthy of Laconia and Nathan Curtis Virgil of Gilford; one great grandchild and many cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Alexandria Village Church, Alexandria, NH.

Burial will follow at 2:30 PM in the family lot at Kezar Falls Cemetery, Kezar Falls, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, c/o Penny Platts, Fowler River Road, Alexandria, NH 03222, the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department, 158 Washburn Road, Alexandria, NH 03222, the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or the American Lung Association of NH, 9 Cedarwood Dr Unit 12, Bedford, NH 03110.
