Joseph V. Shea, Sr.

Laconia-----Joseph V. Shea, Sr., 74, of 16 Willow Street, Lakeport, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, June 25, 2003.

Mr. Shea was born May 12, 1929 in Dorchester, MA, the son of Joseph V. and Mary (McLaughlin) Shea.
Mr. Shea lived in Tilton, NH before moving to Laconia 50 years ago. He was a member of the National Guard for 37 years and served in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was owner of Joseph V. Shea Electrician.
Mr. Shea was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 68 from 1957-1970. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline L. (Hebert) Shea of Lakeport; two sons, Joseph V. Shea, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and Joel P. Shea and his wife, Carol, of Belmont; five daughters, Kathleen L. Pechman and her husband, Stephen, of Phoenix, AZ, Denise M. Robbins and her husband, Ken, of Great Bend, Kansas, Lisa M. Rolland of Laconia, NH, Theresa A. Mattor and her husband, Paul, of Hollis, Maine, and Christine A. Callahan and her husband, Mathew, of Belmont, NH; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Rolland, Jesse Rolland, Casey Rolland, Cori Shea, Madeline Callahan, Shea Callahan, Kathleen Shea and Riley Mattor; a brother, Robert Shea, of Florida; two sisters, Julie Baker of North Carolina and Mary Twoomey of Massachusetts; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia DuBois.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, NH, on Monday, June 30, 2003 at 10:00AM. Rev. George Soberick, Pastor of the church, will be the celebrant. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 2:00 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Rte 3, Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop #68, c/o Dennis Hebert, Treasurer, 297 Holman Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
