Arvid O. Johnson

Laconia----Arvid O. Johnson, 87, of 435 Union Ave. and formerly of Sachem Cove Road, Spindle Point, Meredith, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Saturday, June 7, 2003. He was the widower of Carolyn (Sundstrand) Johnson who died in 1982.

Mr. Johnson was born August 31, 1915 in Hartford, CT., the son of Oscar and Jenny (Mahl) Johnson. He had lived in West Hartford, CT. for many years. He had summered in Meredith for many years moving to Meredith permanently in 1977. He had been a resident of the Taylor Community for a number of years.

Mr. Johnson served in the US Army during WWII. He was a salesman for the Rourke-Eno Paper Company for many years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Meredith. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching golf on TV. He enjoyed his flower garden.

Survivors include a son Oscar S. and his wife Cheryl Johnson of Meredith; a daughter Jennie J. Hearne of Wichita, KS; 5 grandchildren Kristen and her husband Mike Fink, Emily Hearne and Erik Hearne all of KS; Amanda Johnson and Mark Johnson both of Meredith.

There are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Meredith, 4 Highland Street, Meredith, Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Dr. Russell Rowland, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith Center.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Meredith, Parsonage Fund, PO Box 533, Meredith, NH 03253.
