Old Orchard Beach, Maine-----Diane M. Grant, 60, of 25 Smithwheel Road # 1 died at her home on Saturday July 8, 2006 after a short but brave battle with cancer.

She was born on November 13, 1945 to Rita (O’Shan) & Donald G. Vachon of Laconia, NH.  She is a graduate of Laconia High School, Laconia, NH and a Secretarial School.

She had formerly lived for 15 years in Augusta, ME where she worked for the State of Maine. Before her illness she had lived in Allenstown, NH and was most recently employed at Merrimack County Savings Bank in Concord, NH until her diagnosis in late March of this year.

She is a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Old Orchard Beach, ME, as well as a former member of St. Mary’s Parish in Augusta, ME. She was also a 46 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary under the granddaughter act. Her grandmother Hazel O’Shan was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Grant-Tolman of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Tracie Berry of Augusta, ME; her beloved grandchildren Christian Berry age 9 and Elizabeth Tolman age 1; her mother Rita Vachon of Laconia, NH; a sister Terri Crane of Gilford, NH; and a nephew Ryan Mooney also of Gilford, NH. She was predeceased by her father.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 11, 2006 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home on 164 Pleasant Street in Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Josephs Church 30 Church Street Laconia, NH on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 11:30 am.  Following the services she will be laid to rest at Bayside Cemetery in Laconia, NH alongside her grandparents David O’Shan and his wife Hazel.

The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Merrimack County Savings Bank and its employees for their going far above and beyond the call for Diane and her family.  They have shown that even in today’s world some employers still have a huge heart and soul.  Their generosity and love will never be forgotten!
