Dorothy Laubenstein

Laconia-----Dorothy Laubenstein, 91, of The Taylor Home Community, and formerly of 10 Magnolia Lane, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, on Monday, January 29, 2007.

Mrs. Laubenstein was born July 28, 1916 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Burdett and Ada (Treen) Lansdowne.

Mrs. Laubenstein resided in Laconia for many years. She worked as a registered nurse for over forty years, serving during WWII for the Red Cross and later at Lakes Region General Hospital, a private practice, a Methadone Maintenance Clinic in New Bedford, MA, the Laconia Clinic and both the Tilton School and New Hampton School. During her life, Dorothy was actively involved in her opposition to the death penalty and to the wars in Vietnam and Iraq. She and her husband, Norvin, were active and long time parishioners of Trinity Episcopal Church in Meredith, NH. Recently, she returned from visiting her daughter, Kristin, and her children and grandchildren in London, England.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Laubenstein of Lexington, MA and Mark Laubenstein of Kingston, MA; two daughters, Jane Follett of Meredith, NH and Kristin Akinkugbe of London, England; seven grandchildren, Tami, Derek, Brett, Dana, Kimberly, Connor and Dapo; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Khamden, Isaiah, Sade, Karl and Francis; a sister, Margaret Crowe of Nashua, NH and many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband, Norvin Laubenstein who died in 2006, she was predeceased by two sons, Karl Laubenstein and Jon Laubenstein; a brother, Richard Lansdowne and a sister, Helen Crowdes.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 1:30PM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, NH State Highway, Rte 25, Meredith, NH. The Rev. Robin Soller, Rector of the Church, will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in the family lot in the Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Church, PO Box 635, Meredith, NH 03253.
