Murray L. Gilman

Belmont-----Murray L. Gilman, 76 of 22 Magnolia Lane, Belmont died at the Lakes Region General Hospital Laconia Friday January 5, 2007.

     Mr. Gilman was born June 26, 1930 in Woodstock the son of Fred S. and Florence A. (Russell) Gilman. He attended Keene Teachers College Keene and served in the US Army during the Korean War.

      Mr. Gilman had lived for many years in Epsom moving to Belmont in 2004. He had been employed by the State of New Hampshire Employment Security for 23 years retiring in 1992.

      Mr. Gilman was a member of the American Legion Post #58. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader and a Red Sox Fan.

     Murray’s travels were good ones throughout his life but his heart was always home in Woodstock and his beloved White Mountains.

      Survivors include his wife Jean E. (Gadreault) Gilman of Belmont; 2 daughters Cynthia Ash of Belmont and Kathleen Hibbard of Bow; 4 grandchildren Tyler, Ethan, Keenan and Tess; 2 brothers Paul Gilman of Sanbornton and Laurence Gilman of Woodstock; many nephews and nieces. Beside his parents he was predeceased by a son Michael A. Gilman who died in 1981 and a brother Robert A. Gilman.

     There are no calling hours.

      A  Family Memorial service will be held Wednesday January 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street Laconia using the Carriage House entrance of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton pastor of the Laconia Congregational Church Laconia will officiate. Spring burial will be in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.

      Memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post #1670 of Laconia, 143 Court Street Laconia NH 03246.
