Richard H. Ray

Gilford-----Richard H. Ray, 87, of 19 Glenridge Way, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Friday, January 13, 2006.

Mr. Ray was born April 27, 1918 in Grandville, Nova Scotia, the son of Ernest W. and Mary Etta (Roden) Ray.

Mr. Ray lived in Belmont, MA and was a graduate of Belmont (MA) High School and Wentworth Institute., Boston, MA. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during WWII. Mr. Ray lived in Reading, Mass. for a number of years before moving to Gilford forty-three years ago. He was a district engineer for the New England Telephone where he was employed for thirty-six years.

Mr. Ray was a member of the South Baptist Church, Laconia. He was a former member of the Gilford Planning Board, the Budget Committee and a Selectman. Mr. Ray was an avid skier and was a member of the Gilford Outing Club and a member of the “Over the Hill Gang”. He was also a member of the Gideon’s International Association.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Juaneva (Sledge) Ray, of Gilford; a son, William S. Ray, of Laconia; a daughter, Elizabeth I. Robinson, of Merrimack and four grandchildren, Stephanie Ray and Alexandra Ray, both of Laconia and Michael Robinson and James Robinson both of Merrimack. There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 11:00AM at the South Baptist Church, 85 Court Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Barry Armitage, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Spring burial will be in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Faith Christian Academy, 87 Horne Road, Belmont, NH 03220 or the South Baptist Church, 85 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246..
