Laconia-----Mrs. Alice R. Saunders, 92, formerly of 21 Winter Street, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home on Thursday, January 1, 2004. She was the widow of Lorenzo E. Saunders who died in 1962.

Mrs. Saunders was born August 26, 1911 in Lakeport, NH, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie (LaPointe) LaCroix. She was a lifelong resident of Laconia and worked at the Laconia State School and Training Center for over twenty years. For fifteen years, she was active with the Foster Granparent Program.

Mrs. Saunders is survived by a niece, Lucille Smith of Dover, NH. She was predeceased by two brothers, Archie LaCroix who died in 1991 and Joseph LaCroix who died in 1985; by a niece, Nancy Marcoux, who died in 2002; by a nephew, Raymond Garneau; and by a friend, Robert Desautell, who died in 1986.

Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2004 from 1:00-3:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2004 at 9:30AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will be the celebrant. Spring Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belknap County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246.
