Laconia------Paul A. Morency, 87, of 185 Province Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Tuesday, January 20, 2004.

Mr. Morency was born December 1, 1916 in Franklin, NH, the son of Octave and Emelie (St. Pierre) Morency.

Mr. Morency served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He lived in Franklin for many years before moving to Laconia forty years ago. He was a chef at the Laconia State School & Training Center for 17 years, retiring in 1979.

Mr. Morency was an avid golfer. During his retirement, he enjoyed his family, watching sports and reading.

Mr. Morency was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marguerite M. (Ayotte) Morency of Laconia; two sons and daughters-in-law, John P. and Jane Morency of Chelmsford, MA and Paul D. and Dale Morency of Epsom, NH; five grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Trevor, Carmen and Ethan; a brother and sister, Fernand Morency and Jeannette Morency, both of Franklin, NH; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Peter Morency.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will be the celebrant. Spring burial will be in the family lot at St. Lambert's Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
