Lester Edward Blackey

Belmont-----Lester Edward Blackey, 88 of 237 Hoadley Road, Belmont, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia Saturday February 3, 2007. He was the widower of Mary H. Blackey who died November 26, 2006.

Mr. Blackey was born February 14, 1918 in Laconia the son of Edward and Constance (Terrill) Blackey. He was a life long resident of the Lakes Region.

Mr. Blackey was employed as a welder at L.M. Pike & Sons for 35 years retiring in 1983. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling.  He also enjoyed home gardening and yard work.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Blackey of Laconia and Robert Maheux of Belmont; three daughters, Beverly Blackey Rogers of Cimaron, NM, Constance Blackey Rodriguez of Aztec, NM and Cheryl Blackey of Albuquerque, NM; twenty grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Blackey of Concord and Patricia Edwards of Hillsborough and many nephews and nieces.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Kenneth Maheux and James Blackey a grandson, Michael Maheux and 3 brothers  Ernest Blackey, Gordon Blackey and Sam Blackey.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield St., Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 No. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
