Roxanna Hood Jackson Tillotson

Laconia---Mrs. Roxanna Hood Jackson Tillotson, 77, of 11Wildwood Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Saturday, February 8, 2003. She was the widow of John M. Tillotson, III, who died in 1982 and her first husband Sterling W. Jackson who died in 1961.

Mrs. Tillotson was born July 25, 1925 in Franklin, N.J., the daughter of Paul K. and Roxie L. (Page) Hood. She had been a resident of Laconia for many years.

Mrs. Tillotson graduated from Laconia High School in 1943 and from Plymouth State Teachers College, Plymouth, in 1947. She was a teacher at Pleasant Street School in Laconia, for 32 years retiring in 1986. She was a teacher for 40 years.

Mrs Tillotson was a 60 year member of the Laconia Congregational Church and was awarded the Churchmanship Award in 1988. She served on the Diaconate, Trustees and Mission Committees. She also was the Church Clerk for a number of years.

Mrs. Tillotson was a member of the Opechee Garden Club, Retired Educators and was a director of the Taylor Home Board for 9 years, and also a member of the Refugee Resettlement Committee.

Survivors include 3 sons Peter S. and his wife Kathy Jackson of Granby, CT., William W. and his wife Mary Lou Jackson of Norfolk, MA and Lyman H. and his wife Katie Jackson of Natick, MA; 2 step-daughters June A. Tillotson-Norman and her husband Mark Norman of Ctr. Barnstead and Diane Tillotson of Ashland; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers Dr. Henry L. and his wife Jane Hood of Keene, and Paul K. and his wife Shirley Hood of Williston, VT.; two sisters Mary Louise and her husband David Harvey of Keene and Harriot Booth of Laconia; 5 nieces and 7 nephews.

Memorial calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2003 from 6-9 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance of the funeral home.

A Memorial service will be held at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia Wednesday, February, 12, 2003 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Carolyn H. Keilig, Interim Associate Pastor of the church will officiate.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Sanbornton.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Dorcas Fund of the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246 or to the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, POBox 7312, Gilford, NH 03247-7312.
