Marguerite C. "Peg" Scott

Laconia-----Marguerite C. "Peg" Scott, 88, died on Monday at her residence on 23 Taylor Home Drive.

She was born in Exeter, the daughter of Clifford and Jennie Maud (Muzzey) Clifford.

She grew up and raised a family in Laconia, lived 25 years in Concord, and returned to Laconia in 1984.

She graduated from Laconia High School in 1932, and was reported in her high school yearbook to be the "best dressed girl,"with the following rhyme beside her picture, "We must have a fashion plate to keep us up to date." She maintained her sense of style throughout her life.

After high school she attended and graduated from Concord Commercial College. She worked for several years at the Peoples National Bank in Laconia, the New England Telephone Company in Laconia, and several years at the Bank of New Hampshire in Concord.

She was an avid reader, an artist, loved opera, and enjoyed travel. She visited many countries, including Ireland, England, Scotland, Yugoslavia and Peru.

Survivors include two daughters, Lela "Lee" Gaudet of Gilford and B. Lynn Koontz of Hopkinton; five grandchildren, Brian Gaudet of Tucson, AZ., Marc Gaudet of Gilford, Stacey Pate of Gilford, Barbara Alevras of Wilmington, MA, and Thea Davis of San Juan Capistrano, CA; five great-grandchildren: two nieces and two nephews, and two good friends, Vera Pooler of Laconia and Ingrid Baines of Pembroke.

Her husband, William Scott, died in 1981, and two sisters and one brother also died previously.

At her request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Rose Society, c/o Joel Mascott, 10 Cranberry Lane, Brookline, NH 03033.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
