 Wallace W. Cogean

Alexandria----Wallace W. Cogean, 83, of 10 Hipson Lane died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Thursday, December 27, 2007.

Mr. Cogean was born June 15, 1924 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of William T. and Marion (Gear) Cogean.

Mr. Cogean served in the U. S. Army for ten years.  He served during WWII and Korea.  He was stationed in the Pacific and also the Occupancy of Germany.  In 1949, he married Ilse Goetz of Stuttgart, Germany.

Mr. Cogean was employed as a Quality Assurance Specialist by Supervisor of Shipbuilding, U. S. Navy, in Groton, Connecticut.  He was formerly employed by the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics and was on the first voyage of the U. S. S. Nautilus.

Mr. Cogean lived in Warwick, Rhode Island for many years, moving to New Hampshire in 1998.

Mr. Cogean was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Chapel of Holy Trinity Parish, Bristol, N. H. and a former communicant of St. Kevin’s Church in Warwick, Rhode Island. 

Survivors include his war bride of fifty-eight years, Ilse (Goetz) Cogean, of Alexandria; four daughters, Cheryle Flynn of Oakdale, Connecticut, Candice Cogean-Noel of Meredith, N. H., Heidi Thompson of Bristol, N. H., and Jill Cogean-Creamer of  South Kingstown, Rhode Island; seven grandchildren, Meghan Flynn Olynciw, Andrew Flynn, Brian Flynn, Daniel Flynn, Emily Noel, Amanda Noel, Caroline Creamer; one great grandson, Matthew Olynciw; nine half brothers and sisters, Virginia, Betty, Shirley, Kathy, Beverly, Albert and Donald Lolio and Edward and Walter Cogean and many nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by his parents and five half brothers and sister, Edward and Kenneth Lolio and Shirley, William and George Cogean.  

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Chapel of Holy Trinity Parish, West Shore Road, Bristol on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 11:00AM. Rev. Eusebio Silva will be the celebrant.

Burial will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Rte. 3, Boscawen, N. H at 1:30PM. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newfound Area Nursing Association (NANA), 214 Lake Street, Bristol, N. H. 03222.
