Helen W. Armitage Send a condolence note

Laconia-----Helen W. Armitage, 96, died on Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia.

         Helen was the daughter of John and Nellie (Werner) Walters.  She was born in McComb, Ohio on April 3, 1911.

         Before moving to Rumney, N. H. in 1973, Helen retired from a long career as an elementary teacher in Akron, Ohio where she was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.

         In New Hampshire, she became active in several organizations including Co-operative Extension, Meals on Wheels, FISH, was a  past president of the Plymouth Women’s Club and a member of the Rebekah’s.

         Helen is survived by her daughter, Diane Bucharelli, of Northfield. N. H.; grandson, David Whiston, of Castaic, Calif.; granddaughter, Karen Whiston DePietro, of Belmont, N. H.; a sister, Patricia Nash, of Findlay, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Edward Armitage, of Rumney, in 1973;  a granddaughter, Laura Whiston, of Rumney; a brother, Charles L. Walters, of Akron, Ohio and by a sister, Lena M. Locke, of Columbus, Ohio.

         There will be no calling hours.

         Helen’s remains were cremated and will be interred in the spring in the Highland Cemetery in Rumney, N. H.

         There will be a memorial service at a later date at the convenience of the family.
