Richard E. Cowing

Belmont----Richard E. Cowing, 80, of 16 Heritage Terrace, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Monday, December 1, 2003.

Mr. Cowing was born November 10, 1923 in Laconia, NH, the son of Eugene and Editha (Kennedy) Cowing. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region and was a graduate of Laconia High School. He was a truck driver and serviceman for R.H. Smith for many years. He was also a part-time police officer for the towns of Sanbornton, Gilford, and Belmont.

At the time of his death, he was employed by Northeast Security, stationed at South Down Shores.

Mr. Cowing was a member of the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club for over 30 years.

Survivors include his son, Edison Cowing of Belmont, NH; three daughters, Brenda Chao of Santa Clara, CA, Marilyn Nations of Tallahassee, Florida and Wendy Scott of Laconia, NH; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003 from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakes Region United Way, 95 Water Street, Suite 1, Laconia, NH 03426.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, is in charge of the arrangements.
