George M. Nelson

Gilmanton Iron Works——-George M. Nelson, 87, a former long time resident of Gilmanton Iron Works died at the Harris Hill Nursing Home, 20 Maitland Street, Concord, NH on Sunday, April 14, 2002.

Mr. Nelson was born January 18, 1915 in Moultonboro, NH, the son of Jacob and Lanora (Wakefield) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson was a long time resident of Gilmanton Iron Works and owned a automotive repair garage for many years and also was a school bus driver. He retired in 1978. Mr. & Mrs. Nelson have been residents of the Harris Hill Nursing Home for a number of months.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the Winnipesaukee Lodge #75 F. & A. M. of Alton for 50 years and was a member of the Gilmanton Community Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Eleanor M. (Hislop) Nelson of Gilmanton Iron Works and Concord; two sons, George M. Nelson II of Barrington, NH and Wayne D. Nelson of Gilmanton Iron Works; a daughter, Carolyn N. Bunnell of Concord, and a son-in-law, Robert L. Cole of Gilmanton Iron Works; seven grandchildren, Timothy J. Nelson, Meghan N. Cavanaugh, R. Willis Bunnell, Elizabeth E. Bunnell, Amy E.Cole, George J. Nelson and W. David Nelson; four great grandchildren, Jacob T. Nelson, David J. Nelson, Zachary E. Bunnell, and Elayne M. Cavanaugh; three sisters, Gladys Cooney of Moultonboro, Marjorie Thorne of Meredith and Helen Bryant of Moultonboro; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two daughters, Jean V. Partridge and Elayne N. Cole; two brothers, John Nelson and Ralph W. Nelson and two sisters, Edna Plummer and Fannie Whitehouse.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 from 5-7 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Gilmanton Community Church, Gilmanton Iron Works on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at 11:00AM. The Rev. Linda B. Bolton, Pastor of the church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilmanton Iron Works.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Rte 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.
