Harry L. Bowdoin

Gilmanton, NH—-Harry L. Bowdoin, 93, of Leonardtown, MD died on April 2, 2002 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD. He was born on April 28, 1908, in Ripley, ME, the son of the late Charles and Ruth Bubier Bowdoin.

In August of 1999, Mr. Bowdoin moved to St. Mary’s County with his wife, Doris Irene Springer Bowdoin, whom he married in June of 1946 in Gilmanton, NH. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Gilmanton Community Church and was a member of the Masons. He also was an avid traveler and spent many winters in AZ and FL.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Irene Bowdoin, of Leonardtown, MD, two daughters, Jacqueline Metevier of Tenants Harbor, ME and Thelma Varhach of Leonardtown, MD, a son, Kenneth Nutter of Laconia, NH and Naples, FL. one sister, Rosabelle Allen, two brothers, Leon and Frank Bowdoin all of ME, eight
grandchildren, Michelle Banda of Tenants Harbor, ME, Michael Bowdoin, of Vail, CO, William Nutter, of Gilford, NH and Naples, FL., Robert Nutter of Northfield, NH, Suzanne Palmer of LaPlata, MD, Anthony Varhach of Mechanicsville, MD and Diane Dei of Parkton, MD.

Friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2002 from 10-10:45 AM at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, PA 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. Following at 11:00 AM, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 21370 Newtowne Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD. The Rev. John Mattingly will be the Celebrant.

A Service and burial will be held in Gilmanton, NH at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, Gilmanton, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gilmanton Community Church, Box 6, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
