Frank Castro

Gilmanton------Frank Castro, 89, formerly of 34 Currier Hill Road, died at the Mountain Ridge Center, on Monday, April 12, 2010.

Mr. Castro was born December 14, 1920 in Boston, Mass., the son of Guiseppe and Maria (Spada) Castro. He lived in Boston, Mass. for several years before moving to Gilmanton twenty-seven years ago.

Mr. Castro served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. and had been employed as a supervisor for the Department of Employment Security for the City of Boston, Mass. for twenty-five years, retiring December 31, 1982. He was a janitor for the Gilmanton Community Church for twenty years. He enjoyed his hobby of model building and was an animal lover and supporter of the S. P. C. A.
Survivors include his brothers and sister in the Boston, Mass. and Buffalo, N. Y. area; several nieces and nephews and his cat, “Lucky”, whom he rescued from being euthanized. He was predeceased by his parents and by a brother.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2:00PM at the N. H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, N.H. Rev. Christopher Stevens, Pastor of the Gilmanton Community Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N.H. 03247.
