Edward Stanley Carlson, Jr.

Laconia, NH-----Edward Stanley Carlson, Jr., of Laconia passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 3, 2010 after suffering a long illness.

Ed was the son of Ida (Girouard) and the late Edward Stanley Carlson, Sr. He attended Worcester Classical High School and Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. He served in the US Air Force.

In 1965, following a move to California, Ed worked as a long haul trucker, continuing his career in trucking after moving back to the east coast in 1978. He retired in 2001.

Ed will be remembered for his generous spirit, personal strength, courageous fight and overcoming many of life’s challenges. His hobbies included a love of photography, aviation and attending air shows.

Ed is survived by his wife, of forty-five years, Virginia (Murray) Carlson, of Laconia; a son, Keith Carlson and his wife, Lisa, of Nashua; two daughters, Kymme Wood and her husband, Robert, of Palmer, Mass, and Kristin Clark of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Kyle and Jessica Clark, Tyler and Ryan Carlson, Bethany and Mia Wood and Jasmine and Dustin Lampropulos; his stepmother, Evangeline (Hiller) Carlson, of Auburn, MA; two step sisters, Frances Maki of Holden, MA and Patty Rossi of Spencer, MA; three step brothers, John Turpin of Charlton, MA, Jimmy Turpin of Auburn, MA and Joey Turpin of California; an aunt, Theresa Girouard, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. using the Carriage House entrance, followed by a private burial at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
