Boscawen----Lena A. Hill, 94, a resident of the Merrimack County Nursing Home, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.  Mrs. Hill was the widow of Claude W. Hill who died in 1989.

Mrs. Hill was born March 25, 1914 in Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Defazio) Monsante.  She moved to the United States in 1920.    Mrs. Hill resided in Laconia for many years and was employed at the Belknap County Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for fifteen years, retiring in 1976. 

Mrs. Hill was a former communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Lakeport.  She enjoyed flea markets, cooking and especially reading. 

Before moving to the Merrimack County Nursing Home four years ago, she resided in Franklin for twenty years with her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Beverly (Groleau) Azzara.  Other family members include grandchildren, James and Sara Azzara of Laconia and Steve and Jodi Spalding of Franklin and great grandchildren, Joseph A. L. Azzara and Hunter and Logan Spalding.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hill was predeceased by a brother, James A. Monsante.

According to Mrs. Hill’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. 

A Funeral Service will be held in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 1:00PM.  Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, N.H. 03303.
