Gilford-----Alexander “Xander” Daniel Rowson, 16, of 2600 Lakeshore Road #73, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Gilford.

Alex was born April 15, 1991 in Laconia, the son of J. David and Lynn M. (Clavett) Rowson.  He lived in Laconia until moving to Gilford two years ago.

Alex attended Holy Trinity School, Laconia from kindergarten through the eighth grade.  He attended Laconia High School for a year and was currently a member of the Junior Class at Gilford High School.  While at Holy Trinity School, Alex won the Arbor Day Poem Award from the Catholic Daughters of America, was selected for spelling bee and geography bee and achieved an honorable mention in the history fair.  He was awarded the Christian Spirit Award in Fourth Grade and was an altar server at St. Joseph Church, Laconia for many years.

Alex was a member of Cub Scout Pack 68 in Laconia, achieving the highest achievement award, The Arrow of Light.  He also was awarded the Parvuli Dei Religious Emblem.  In Boy Scouts, he went onto overnight campouts and hikes which he loved.

Alex worked at Funspot for two years and was employed at Paugus Bay Marina.  He liked to ski, bike, fish, kayak, hike and SING.

Alex, nicknamed “Xander”, had a large group of friends both at Laconia and Gilford High Schools.  His crowning achievement in life was his incredible ability to be everybody’s friend, young or old, and to make people smile.  He was kindness personified to everyone he met and though his life was short, he was loved every minute of it and he knew it.

In addition to his parents, Alex is survived by a brother, Adam Rowson, of Gilford; a sister and brother-in-law, Amy and John Baxter, and two nieces, Danica and Logan Baxter, all of Gilford and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 5:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia by Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor of the church.

Burial will be at a later date in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
