Laconia-----Solange Airris Berry Hunt, 86, of 9 Mistwood Lane, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at home surrounded by her husband and family.
She was born in Berlin, NH on June 13, 1919, the daughter of Louis J. and Airris Durand Olivier. Solange lived in Wakefield, MA, Gilmanton, NH and Acton, ME before moving to Laconia. Solange was a graduate of the Sisters of Presentation Nursing School and was a registered nurse at Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston before her retirement.
Solange was married to Ernest R. Hunt, December 22, 1996. She was an avid golfer and a member of Waukewan Country Club, Meredith, the Grasshoppers League of NH, and former longtime member of Pheasant Ridge Country Club, Gilford. She was also a member of the Continental Country Club in Wildwood, Florida where they wintered.
Solange was predeceased by her first husband, Richard (Dick) Berry, whom she married April 13, 1950. She was an avid reader, gardener, cribbage player, artist and was known for her cookies, cakes and pies. She loved to embroider and gave a piece to every family member. She was a volunteer at the Gilmanton, NH polls, and was instrumental in helping a number of women in the Laconia and Wildwood, Florida AA. She was a former treasurer of the Sawyer Lake Association in Gilmanton.
Surviving members of her family include her husband, Ernest R. Hunt, of Laconia; three children, Susan Airris Berry, of Lebanon, NH, Richard & Laurine Berry of South Berwick, Maine and David & Kathryn Berry of Pembroke, MA; stepdaughter, Nancy Porosky, of Gilmanton; stepson, Phillip Hunt of Rhode Island and seven grandchildren, Christopher Langsten, Owen Berry, Neil Berry, Oliver Berry, Jordan Berry, Abby Porosky and Tim Porosky.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Apri1 18, 2006 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will celebrate.
Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11:30AM in the family lot at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Peabody, MA.
