Annie Goodwin Burleigh

Laconia-----Annie Goodwin Burleigh, 97, of 126 Clinton Street, Lakeport, died at her home on Saturday April 1, 2006. She was the widow of Richard K. Burleigh who died in 1968.

Mrs. Burleigh was born February 14, 1909 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of the late Ervin and Annie (Whiteman) Rand. Mrs. Burleigh’s mother died during childbirth and at the age of 2 months, Mrs. Burleigh was adopted by Georgianna S. and Walter H. Goodwin.

Mrs. Burleigh was a lifetime resident of Laconia/Lakeport. She was a bank teller at the Lakeport National Bank for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1974.

Mrs. Burleigh was a member of the Lakeport United Baptist Church for eighty-five years. She was a Director of the Bayside Cemetery Association from 1973-2001 and served as Vice President from 1975-2001.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin Burleigh, of Lakeport and Ervin Burleigh and his wife, Alice, of Rochester, NH; a daughter, Janet Phelan, of Middletown, New York; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; six nieces and four nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Atwood; by a brother and by five sisters.

There will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held at the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia on Tuesday April 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Sharron Lamothe pastor of the Lakeport United Baptist Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lakeport United Baptist Church, 23 Park Street, Lakeport, NH 03246 or Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
